In the Fall of 2007, the Town Council authorized the creation of the Thomas Memorial Library Study Committee, a group charged with conducting a Needs Assessment and Design Concept for a Library Improvement Program. The study committee completed its work and issued a final report in the Fall of 2009.
Having fulfilled its charge, the TML Study Committee was disbanded by the Town Council on October 14th, 2009. Responsibility for ongoing library planning efforts has now devolved to the TML Board of Trustees. The Town Council also voted to hold another workshop on the library study and proposal at the end of the first quarter of the 2010 year (i.e., late February-early March).
Currently, the TML Board of Trustees is developing strategies for an education program for the Cape Elizabeth community on the needs of the library and the recommendations found in the consultant's Final Report. You will hear more about these efforts in the near future.
In addition, the TML Board of Trustees and the TML Foundation Board of Directors recently participated in a workshop on fundraising in order to educate themselves on the requirements for a possible future capital campaign.
Below you will find articles and documents related to the work of the TML Study Committee.
