Despite a March 2nd snowstorm which closed Cape Elizabeth schools, Town Hall and
the library for the day, eighteen hardy souls ventured out to an open meeting for the Cape Elizabeth community at Town Hall that evening to hear the consultant team of Himmel & Wilson with their Casaccio Architects partners present an overview of their findings from an extensive Needs Assessment study begun in August 2008.
In addition, the consultants presented several preliminary design scenarios for the future of the Thomas Memorial Library, and responded to questions from the audience after their presentation.
On March 3, the consultants held charrette sessions all day at the Library for people to come and discuss the preliminary plans, contribute ideas, and make suggestions for changes to the preliminary design concepts. Approximately twenty Cape citizens participated in these interactive and collaborative sessions.
Next steps include revising the initial preliminary design concepts for consideration by the Thomas Memorial Library Study Committee as a result of the input from the Cape Elizabeth community.
The Town Hall presentation by the consultants can be seen here.
