whales by Marie Ahearn

What happens if you change the color of an object, or use thick lines instead of thin lines? Artist Marie Ahearn will lead kids in an exploration of how different artistic choices in artwork convey different emotions and meanings. Through working one image many different ways, kids will begin to develop a sense of how color, line, shape, media and composition can be used to express different feelings and tell visual stories.

About Marie Ahearn

Marie Ahearn is a lifelong painter who earned her MFA at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. As Marie’s painting style evolved and crystalized, she noticed her artwork appealed to young children. The comments, questions and enthusiasm kids had upon seeing her paintings, prompted Marie to expand her work by creating art and art exhibits specifically for children. Marie paints in Cape Elizabeth where she lives with her wife, two daughters, two cats and Coal the dog.
