- Mayo Clinic: The Mayo Clinic webpage includes a symptom checker and information on different treatment options for certain conditions. There is also a section where users can email questions to specialists.
- WebMD: This user friendly site has an effective search engine and includes extensive information on a wide variety of conditions, medications, and medical advice. There is a video library and in-depth coverage of popular health topics.
- Medline Plus: This is the National Library of Health consumer health resource. The page offers information on conditions and medications, dictionaries and encyclopedias, directories of physicians and hospitals, and a collection of suggested online resources.
- Family Doctor.org: Hosted by the American Academy of Family Physicians, this site contains advice for patients on physicians, insurance, and prescription and over-the-counter medications. There are general health tips and information on certain medical conditions as well.
- eMedicine Health: A collection of consumer health topics written and reviewed by physicians, eMedicine Health includes a medical dictionary, first aid guide, and a series of topic centers for different types of conditions, patients, and wellness advice.
- National Women's Health Resource Center: A wide range of issues pertaining to women's health, including mental health, are covered here. The page includes a series of advice columns answered by experts.
- National Women's Health Information Center: Find links to information on health topics specific to women, women's health organizations, and statistics. The page includes a section in Spanish.
- Women's Health Resource Library: "The Women's Health Resource Library, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was born out of the realization that the women of Downeast Maine, and Washington County in particular, face tremendous obstacles when it comes to accessing current, reliable health information. . . . The library's mission is to support women and their families in making informed decisions about their health care and become active partners in their care."
- National Institute of Health Senior Health Page: This page covers a short list of topics of interest to seniors. It is very easy to use and has an audio option for seniors with poor vision.
- Infoaging.org: This general guide to aging supported by the American Federation for Aging Research includes tips for healthy aging, resources on geriatric disorders, and current developments in aging research.
- Eldercare Locator: Eldercare Locator is a guide to local resources for the elderly supported by the Department of Health and Human Services. Here you can find local resources on long term care, legal assistance, Medicare, and elder abuse.
- National Center for Complimentary and Alternative Medicine: Here you can find information for consumers on alternative treatments, natural remedies, and alternative medicine practitioners.
- Alternative Medicine Foundation: A collection of resource guides designed to help patients considering alternative treatments, which includes a database of herbal remedies.
- The Internet Drug Index: This index provides extensive information on prescription medications. It includes a medical dictionary and an interactive tool that helps users identify pills by their apperance.
- Physician's Desk Reference: The internet version of the popular reference title, this site includes information on prescription, over-the-counter, and alternative drugs, as well as database designed to help patients choose treatment options and an interaction checker that cross references medicines with food, drugs, and alcohol.
- Oncolink: This resource specifically for cancer patients includes information on current cancer treatments, clinical trials, and support groups.
- Deciphering Medspeak: Hosted by the Medical Library of America, this dictionary translates medical terminology into layman's terms.
