Partners in Special Education Gift

A group that was formed last year to encourage partnership of parents and Instructional Support School Departments has donated twenty-two books and one DVD dealing with special needs parenting and education to the Thomas Memorial Library.

The pilot project was coordinated by the Maine Parent Federation and funded through the Maine Department of Education. A group called Cape Parents 4 Parents joined with the Cape Elizabeth School Department to obtain the grant, which funded the purchase of the materials. The titles, all of which are available to be borrowed, cover topics such as autism & Asperger's syndrome, child and adolescent depression, ADHD, and bullying. The library is very grateful for the gift, which has significantly increased its collection of resources available for parents and teachers seeking advice on a multitude of issues and topics. Most of the titles are located either in the library's children's collection or parenting area. The complete list of titles appears below.
