New: Pre-readers can sign up to be read to as well!

We are very excited to reintroduce our Teen Reading Buddy program into the summer and beyond. It’s a great way for kids to practice reading aloud, and to keep up their reading skills. Teen Reading Buddies are supportive, enthusiastic listeners who can help your child practice reading here at the library. Children who participate can sign up to read with a Buddy for up to 30 minutes at a time. Kids can choose their own books to read with their buddy, who will listen and help sound out words and assist with comprehension. Pre-readers can choose a book, or several, to listen to as their Reading Buddy reads to them!

Our Teen Reading Buddies are Cape Elizabeth School students who have a particular interest in working with children and reading. Each Teen Reading Buddy keeps their own appointment calendar, which you can view below. Just click on an available time, and fill out the online form to make an appointment for your child to read with their buddy here at the library or arrange a virtual session.

How It Works
