Golden Kite Awards: Given annually by the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI) to recognize excellence in children’s literature in four categories: Fiction, Nonfiction, Picture Book Text, and Picture Book Illustration.
Giverney Awards: Given annually by Dr. James H. Wandersee and Dr. Elisabeth Schussler to honor an author and illustrator of a children's science picture book written in English and published within five years of the award date.
Governor General's Literary Awards: Recognizes books by Canadians regardless of where they were published. There are several categories: fiction, poetry, nonfiction, children's text, illustration and translation.
Hans Christian Anderson Medals: Presented every other year by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) to a living author and illustratorfor the complete works of his or her career, which have made a lasting effect on children's literature.
Horn Book Awards: The Boston Globe presents the Horn Book Awards annually in the field of children's and young adult literature. Winners are chosen in the categories of picture book, fiction and poetry, and nonfiction.
International Reading Association Children's Book Awards: Given annually for an author�'s first or second published book written for children or young adults (ages birth to 17). The books may be from any country and in any language to be considered.
The James Madison Book Award: Given annually to a nonfiction book (published in the previous year) that brings knowledge and understanding of American history to elementary and middle school students.
Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal: Given by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association. The first recipient was Wilder herself in 1954, and since then the award has honored an author or illustrator whose books have made a lasting contribution to children�'s literature.
Lupine Award: Presented annually by the Youth Services Section Interest Group of the Maine Library Association, to recognize an outstanding contribution to children's literature of Maine.
Maine Student Book Awards: Designed to expand literary horizons of students in grades 4-8 by encouraging them to read, evaluate, and enjoy a selection of new books and to choose by written ballot, a statewide favorite.
Margaret A. Edwards Award: Recognizes an author's work in helping adolescents become aware of themselves and addressing questions about their role and importance in relationships, society, and in the world.

Newbery Medal: Honors the author making the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children, is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.
Pura Belpre Award: Sponsored by the American Library Association and affiliates, recognizes a Latino or Latina writer or illustrator whose work celebrates the Latino culture in a children's book.
Sydney Taylor Awards: Recognizes the best in Jewish children's literature. Medals are awarded annually for outstanding books that authentically portray the Jewish experience.
