The Secret Lives of White-tailed Deer, with Ed Robinson

Maine Wildlife SeriesHow well do you really know the graceful white-tailed deer? While we see these lovely creatures in our yards or neighboring forests and fields, most of us know little about them. Join us as we welcome writer and photographer Ed Robinson of Orr’s Island, Maine, who has studied the whitetail for many years. Through stunning photos, stories and biological facts, this presentation will help you understand the deer life cycle and habitats, as well as how deer populations have changed over time and the impact this has had on the local populations of ticks. Come learn all the things you’ve ever wanted to know (and more) about white-tailed deer. You won’t be sorry you did!

About Ed Robinson
 

Born in rural farm country in NY’s Finger Lakes region, Ed Robinson has had a life-long love for wild creatures and the natural world. For 18 years he has been improving wildlife habitat at an old farm near Ithaca, NY. Ed is involved with conservation groups including Maine Audubon, Trout Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. After college Ed worked and studied photography at Eastman Kodak, with assignments in Singapore, Mexico, England and Australia. He later spent 35 years in life sciences, leading companies in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields across 40 countries. Since moving to Maine from England in 2007, he has been exploring and writing extensively about the creatures that live here. Ed recently published his second book titled Nature Notes from Maine: Puffins, Black Bears, Raccoons & More, with the profits benefiting public education and conservation of the environment around us. Ed volunteers with the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust and served as a trustee from 2014 – 2020. Ed’s third book will be published in 2023.
